Days of Our Lives fans are reeling after Nadia Bjorlin revealed she turned down an offer to return as Chloe Lane, leaving the door open for a recast of the beloved character. The actress made the revelation during an interview with Michael Fairman while promoting her new movie, Veronica and Julian, alongside former Days star Kyle Pettis. When Fairman brought up online speculation that actress Sophia Mattsson would debut as a recast Chloe in early 2027, Bjorlin was careful with her response. “Oh, I’m not allowed,” she said with a laugh.
“I can’t say anything about that subject. ”
Bjorlin did confirm, however, that the show had approached her about reprising the role. She declined, and the reason comes down to simple logistics. She currently lives in Ireland with her husband Grant Turnbull and their two sons, while Days of Our Lives films in Los Angeles.
The commute, she explained, was simply not feasible. Uprooting her family for the shooting schedule was not an option, so she made the difficult decision to pass. She said it broke her heart to say no. Bjorlin made clear she has no hard feelings about the planned recast.
She said she is at peace because the show asked her first, respecting her legacy with the character before looking elsewhere. She gave the production her blessing to move forward and said she wishes the new actress well. She described playing Chloe as a chapter in her life, similar to high school or college. She grew up on that set and considered the cast family, but that chapter is now closed.
Chloe Lane was last seen in Salem in 2023, leaving town with Philip Kiriakis for a fresh start in New York. That reunion apparently failed off-screen, as Philip returned to Salem alone in 2024 and has since been entangled in business battles over Titan, conflicts with Xander, and a developing relationship with Gabi Hernandez. Current storylines have Philip in Monte Carlo with Gabi, where he convinced her to give him $5 million to enter a high-stakes poker tournament in a desperate bid to save Titan. To get Gabi into the casino, Philip claimed she was his fiancée, setting up a fake engagement that viewers expect to turn into real feelings.
If Sophia Mattsson’s Chloe returns to Salem in early 2027, she would walk into a volatile situation, potentially finding Philip with Gabi, a character who has already shown a willingness to scheme against anyone she perceives as a threat.
