Anna Had Everything Ready Before Britt Arrived
There is nothing spontaneous about what Anna Devane has done. By the time Britt Westbourne received the call that drew her toward Mount Emerson, Anna had already taken steps that suggest she knew exactly how she wanted this confrontation to end.
Before contacting Britt, Anna stopped at property she had purchased from Sonny Corinthos and checked a trunk concealed in the brush. Its contents made the situation even more disturbing, because Anna appeared to have prepared what she would need not only to kill Britt but also to deal with the aftermath.
Only after confirming everything was in place did Anna make the call.
Her bait was carefully chosen. Anna claimed she had new information concerning Cassius’ death, giving Britt a reason to leave what she was doing and meet her without immediately questioning the urgency. Britt believed she was walking into a conversation connected to her brother. Instead, she arrived at an isolated clearing controlled by Anna, with no idea that preparations had already been made before she ever set foot there.
That distinction matters because it removes almost any possibility that Anna simply lost control during an emotional confrontation. She selected the location, prepared the necessary materials and created a reason to get Britt there alone. Every decision appears to have been made before the two women came face-to-face.
Mount Emerson Was Chosen for a Terrifying Reason
Britt immediately recognized that something about the meeting place felt wrong. Mount Emerson was remote enough to make the entire arrangement suspicious, and she questioned why Anna had insisted they meet so far away from everyone else.
Anna’s response revealed exactly why the isolation mattered.

Earlier, Jason encountered Anna at the shooting range and immediately sensed that something about her behavior was unusual. His instincts told him something was wrong, but there was not enough information at the time for him to understand what Anna was planning or who might be in danger.
That changed when Jason arrived at General Hospital expecting to pick Britt up for the Quartermaine party.
Instead of finding her waiting for him, he learned from Tristan that Britt had suddenly rushed away after receiving a phone call. The explanation involved her mother and Mount Emerson, and that location gave Jason his first meaningful clue that the situation might be far more serious than an unexpected family emergency.
Jason knew Sonny had owned property in the area, so he made a call to check. What he discovered transformed his vague suspicion into something much more alarming: Sonny had recently sold that particular parcel of land to Anna.
Suddenly, several unrelated details began forming a disturbing picture. Anna had seemed wrong at the shooting range, Britt had unexpectedly abandoned her plans after receiving a mysterious call, and she had gone to an isolated property now owned by Anna.
Jason still did not know exactly what was happening, but he finally knew enough to understand that Britt could be in serious danger.
Britt’s Missed Calls Make the Situation Even Worse
Jason repeatedly attempted to contact Britt once his suspicions intensified, but she declined his calls. From Britt’s perspective, there was no reason to believe Jason was desperately trying to warn her. Had Britt answered even one of those calls before meeting Anna, Jason might have been able to warn her that the property belonged to Anna or convince her to leave before the situation escalated. Jason therefore finds himself in an unusually difficult position. His instincts have correctly told him that something is wrong, but instinct alone does not tell him precisely where Britt is standing, how long she has been there or how close Anna may be to pulling the trigger.
Every minute he spends resolving those uncertainties gives Anna more time alone with Britt.
Jason May Be the Only Person Close Enough to Find Them
At this point, Jason is the most obvious candidate to interrupt the confrontation because he is one of the few people who has independently connected Britt’s disappearance to Anna and Mount Emerson.
He also has something working in his favor: he knows Sonny previously owned property there and now knows that Anna purchased it. That information could provide the final geographic link he needs to determine where Britt went.
The question is whether he can turn that knowledge into an exact location quickly enough.
Anna has already completed the drive to Mount Emerson, positioned herself at the clearing and drawn her weapon. Jason is working from behind, reconstructing events that Anna planned in advance. He does not know how long Britt has been with her or whether he has ten minutes to intervene or almost no time at all.
That uncertainty gives the storyline its urgency. Jason may finally be looking in the right direction, but Anna has a head start whose size he cannot measure.
Reaching Britt May Only Be Half the Battle
Even if Jason reaches Mount Emerson before Anna fires, his arrival would not necessarily end the danger. In some ways, it could make the confrontation even more unpredictable.
Anna is not someone Jason can easily disarm psychologically. She is an experienced operative who knows how to handle a weapon and how to react when a carefully constructed operation suddenly goes wrong. More importantly, her actions suggest that she has spent considerable time convincing herself that what she is doing is necessary.
That means Jason cannot simply assume that appearing in the clearing will cause Anna to lower the gun.
If he attempts to talk her down, he risks giving her additional time to act. If he moves aggressively, Anna could respond instinctively and fire. Britt would remain directly in the middle of the confrontation, and Jason himself could become another obstacle Anna believes she needs to eliminate.
His rescue attempt therefore requires more than finding the right piece of land. He has to arrive quickly enough to stop Anna while somehow avoiding the very reaction that could get Britt killed.
For someone as accustomed to dangerous confrontations as Jason, that may sound manageable, but Anna is hardly an ordinary opponent. She understands many of the same tactics he does, which makes the possibility of the two facing each other across that clearing especially volatile.
Anna’s Careful Planning Could Become Her Weakness
There is also an irony buried inside Anna’s preparation. The same steps that gave her control over the situation may ultimately provide Jason with the trail he needs to find her.
Anna chose property she owned because it offered privacy. She selected Mount Emerson because of its isolation and apparently prepared the location before contacting Britt. Those decisions allowed her to control the environment, but purchasing the property also created a connection Jason was able to uncover.
Had Britt simply disappeared somewhere random, Jason might have had almost nowhere to begin. Instead, Tristan remembered Mount Emerson, Jason remembered Sonny’s connection to the area, and one phone call revealed that Anna had recently become the owner.
The plan was designed around secrecy, yet it may contain just enough traceable information to undermine that secrecy at the worst possible moment.
Jason does not need to understand every detail of Anna’s intentions before acting. He only needs to conclude that Britt went to property owned by a woman whose behavior had already raised his suspicions.
From there, instinct can do the rest.
Britt Is Running Out of Time
Britt, meanwhile, has none of the information Jason is gathering. She knows only what is directly in front of her: Anna brought her to an isolated location under false pretenses and now has a gun pointed at her.
Her survival may depend on keeping Anna talking long enough for someone else to arrive.
That creates an uncomfortable imbalance between the three characters. Anna knows exactly why everyone is at Mount Emerson because she created the situation. Jason knows enough to recognize the danger but is still trying to locate it. Britt understands that she is in danger but has no idea that someone may already be trying to find her.
The longer the confrontation continues, the greater Jason’s chances of reaching them. At the same time, every additional second gives Anna another opportunity to decide she has talked enough.
That makes time the one variable none of them can completely control.
Can Jason Reach Mount Emerson Before Anna Pulls the Trigger?
Everything now appears positioned for Jason and Anna’s storylines to collide at Mount Emerson. Jason has followed enough clues to realize that Britt’s sudden disappearance is connected to Anna, while Anna has already moved beyond preparation and into the final stage of whatever she intended to do.
The remaining question is whether Jason can close the distance before that plan becomes irreversible.
His instincts have already served him well. He noticed Anna behaving strangely before he had any reason to connect her to Britt, questioned Britt’s sudden departure instead of dismissing it and followed the Mount Emerson clue far enough to discover Anna’s ownership of the property. Each piece has moved him closer to the truth, but he is still operating against someone who planned the encounter before he even realized there was a mystery to solve.
If Jason reaches the clearing in time, viewers could be headed toward an explosive confrontation between two people who understand exactly how dangerous the other can be. If he arrives too late, Mount Emerson could become the site of another tragedy rather than a rescue.
For Britt Westbourne, the difference may come down to minutes.
Anna Devane has the gun, the isolated location and the advantage of preparation, but Jason Morgan finally knows enough to start looking in the right place. Now General Hospital has reduced the entire confrontation to a race between Anna’s plan and Jason’s instincts — and Britt’s life may depend on which one reaches its conclusion first.
