Actor Michael Madsen, known for his iconic role as Mr. Blonde in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, died on July 3rd, 2025, at his home in Malibu, California. He was 67 years old. According to reports, he was found unresponsive, and the apparent cause of death was cardiac arrest.

His mother, Elaine Melson, was an Emmy-winning filmmaker and author, and his father, Calvin Christian Madsen, was a World War II Navy veteran and firefighter. His heritage included Danish on his father’s side and Irish and Native American on his mother’s.
He grew up nearby siblings, including sisters Virginia Madsen, who is also an acclaimed actress, and Cheryl Madsen, an entrepreneur. His personal life included three marriages, and he had six children. Tragedy touched his family when his son Hudson died in January of 2022. Madsen’s path to acting began at the Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago, where he apprenticed under actor John Malkovich.
