If Jack Abbott hoped that inviting Patty Williams into the Abbott Mansion would finally bring him closer to finding Diane Jenkins, Monday’s episode of The Young and the Restless delivered a frustrating reality check. After enduring an uncomfortable breakfast, listening to Patty’s increasingly romantic fantasies, and meeting with Dr. Laurence Markham, Jack walked away with more questions than answers—and a growing reason to fear that Patty’s obsession has become far more serious than he realized.

What makes the situation even more alarming is that Patty no longer appears interested merely in winning Jack’s attention. She seems fully convinced that Diane’s marriage to Jack was a mistake and that she is destined to replace Diane as Mrs. Jack Abbott.
Patty Turns the Abbott Mansion Into Her Dream Home
Jack’s morning begins with a shock.
Rather than waking up to a quiet house, he discovers the dining room overflowing with food prepared by Patty. Quiche, muffins, mimosas, and an elaborate breakfast spread greet him before he has even had a chance to process another sleepless night.
Patty immediately slips into the role of devoted partner, asking how he slept and proudly announcing that she even contacted his assistant to rearrange his schedule so they could spend the morning together.
The gesture does not have the effect she hoped for.
Jack’s patience quickly disappears as he bluntly informs her that allowing her to move into the mansion was a mistake. Patty, however, wastes no time reminding him of the arrangement they made. If Jack abandons their agreement, she can no longer guarantee Diane’s safety.
It is a reminder that immediately forces Jack to back down.
Although visibly frustrated, he realizes he has little choice but to continue playing along.

Jack Sees Just How Deep Patty’s Fantasy Runs
As breakfast continues, Patty grows increasingly comfortable discussing what she imagines their future will look like.
While Jack struggles to focus on anything except Diane, Patty enthusiastically discusses domestic life, praises the texture of her homemade quiche, and talks about how much she enjoys settling into the house. She even casually mentions looking forward to future activities together, speaking as though their relationship is already established.
The conversation highlights a growing problem for Jack.
Every day he spends pretending to tolerate Patty’s behavior seems to reinforce her belief that they are building a life together. What began as an investigation is slowly becoming validation for Patty’s fantasies.
Desperate to redirect the conversation, Jack focuses on the one thing that matters to him: Diane.
When Patty reveals that she has arranged a meeting with Diane’s doctor, Jack is stunned. Even more surprising, the physician will be coming directly to the Abbott Mansion rather than meeting them at a clinic.
Recognizing an opportunity, Jack secretly sends a message to Kyle Abbott, instructing him to follow the doctor after the meeting in hopes of uncovering Diane’s location.

Dr. Laurence Markham Raises More Red Flags
When Dr. Laurence Markham finally arrives, Jack immediately notices something unusual.
Not only is the physician treating Diane, but he is also Patty’s therapist.
The overlap raises obvious concerns.
Laurence explains that he became involved with Diane’s care unexpectedly and insists she is currently recovering in a safe environment where she can process her emotional trauma. According to his version of events, Diane’s emotional spiral was triggered by Jack’s betrayal and the collapse of her trust in him.
Naturally, Jack wants to see his wife.
Laurence quickly shuts that idea down.
He claims Diane does not want Jack to know where she is and insists that confidentiality prevents him from sharing any details. Again and again, he asks Jack to trust the therapeutic process.
The explanation leaves Jack visibly dissatisfied.
Instead of receiving proof that Diane is safe, he is essentially being asked to accept the word of a man he barely knows.

Jack Leaves With More Questions Than Answers
Refusing to give up, Jack shifts the conversation toward Patty.
If Laurence is treating both women, perhaps he can at least provide some insight into Patty’s mental state.
The doctor’s response is astonishing.
According to Laurence, Patty is every bit as sane as Jack himself.
The answer does little to reassure him.
In fact, it has the opposite effect.
Jack openly questions the assessment, pointing out that Patty’s behavior hardly inspires confidence. Laurence remains firm, arguing that Patty has made significant progress and learned how to demonstrate genuine remorse for her past actions.
With that, he ends the meeting and leaves.
For Jack, the encounter feels like a complete failure. He entered hoping to gain information about Diane’s location, her condition, or Patty’s treatment. Instead, he walks away with vague reassurances and a growing sense that something about Laurence’s involvement does not add up.

Patty Declares Herself the Future Mrs. Abbott
The most shocking moment comes after the doctor leaves.
Patty immediately interprets Laurence’s comments as proof that she has been fully healed and is finally ready for the life she believes she deserves.
More specifically, she believes she is ready for Jack.
When Jack expresses frustration over learning almost nothing about Diane, Patty uses the opportunity to attack the very foundation of his marriage. She insists that Diane’s love for him was never real and argues that he is finally beginning to see the truth.
Jack fiercely rejects the claim.
He remains adamant that his relationship with Diane is genuine and worth fighting for.
Patty refuses to accept that answer.

Instead, she calmly explains that she intends to show Jack what real love looks like and remains convinced that he will eventually realize they belong together. In her mind, becoming his wife is no longer a dream. It is simply a matter of time.
The declaration leaves Jack stunned.
Unfortunately, it may also confirm his worst fear. Patty is no longer merely helping him find Diane. She is actively envisioning a future in which Diane is permanently removed from the picture and Patty takes her place at the Abbott Mansion. As Jack’s plan grows more dangerous and Patty’s obsession grows stronger, the line between manipulation and genuine delusion is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish—and that could make Diane’s rescue far more complicated than anyone expected.
