Gene Deal, the man who served as Diddy’s personal bodyguard during the 1990s at Bad Boy Records, has stepped forward to discuss a leaked tape that has sparked widespread speculation online. According to Deal, the tape connects a Philadelphia rapper to Diddy’s inner circle, and his comments have reignited debates about the rapper’s relationship with the imprisoned music mogul. Deal, who was present for many of Diddy’s private moments, said the tape fits what he describes as a clear pattern of control. He claimed Diddy would bring younger artists into situations that initially seemed normal, then later use those moments as leverage.
“When I say Puff go in the room with two girls, you understand? And another guy, and a rapper, and then all of a sudden they cousin try to go in the room, I throw him up against the piano,” Deal said, describing an incident from his time as bodyguard. The tape in question has been rumored for months, with clips and screenshots circulating online before disappearing. Deal’s public comments have now put the spotlight on Meek Mill, the Philadelphia rapper who was previously identified in a lawsuit filed by music producer Rodney Jones, known as Lil’ Rod.
Jones’ lawsuit, which accused Diddy of sexual harassment, included a footnote describing “an unnamed rapper from Philadelphia who used to date Nicki Minaj”—a description that led many to point at Meek Mill. Deal said the names in the lawsuit were redacted, but he implied the reference was clear. “It had Meek Mill’s, it had Stevie J, they had redacted their names and they had Usher and they redacted their names and just said a performer of the Super Bowl and a Philly rapper,” he said. He also suggested that Meek’s frequent presence at Diddy’s parties was not simply friendship, but exposure to the same environment now at the center of a federal case.
Old footage of Meek at Diddy’s mansion, including clips of the two together in matching outfits, has resurfaced across social media. While none of this proves wrongdoing on its own, Deal’s commentary has fueled further public scrutiny. Meek Mill has not stayed silent. He took to social media to deny the allegations, claiming there is a coordinated effort to attack him.
He said the accusations were being pushed by outlets not owned by Black people and described it as a “war on black men. ” He also offered $100,000 to anyone who could prove how his name became connected to the Lil’ Rod lawsuit in the first place. Deal responded to Meek’s denials by suggesting the over-explaining looked more like panic than innocence. He said someone who knows what the unredacted portions of the lawsuit might contain would be terrified of the moment they become public.
Around the same time, footage from a 2014 birthday party Diddy threw for Meek at a rented Las Vegas mansion resurfaced. The property manager later described finding broken bottles, used condoms, blood on the bedding, and scattered razor blades the morning after. He also noted that Diddy’s team had requested that every smoke detector in the house be replaced with new ones before the event. Many online now speculate those devices were actually hidden cameras.
Meek continued to post screenshots denying the stories, but his own followers questioned why he did not directly address the leaked audio. He was also seen in public making what people online now call the “no Diddy” gesture, an apparent attempt to distance himself from the mogul. Not everyone is convinced the tape is real. An industry commentator known as Big Homie CC said he cannot confirm the audio’s authenticity.
He argued that federal investigators have already announced they possess video evidence related to Diddy, and if they had something solid tying Meek to the allegations, it would likely already be public given the attention Meek has received since leaving jail. This is not the first time a hidden tape connected to Diddy’s world has surfaced. Earlier, a similar story broke involving Daphne Joy, the mother of 50 Cent’s teenage son. Joy, who previously dated Diddy, was filmed without her consent, and the footage was later leaked online.
Joy posted a statement responding to the leak, which she later removed. In it, she said, “I deep loved him and I believe that he loved me too. It’s still so painful to process the harsh realities and the truth of this relationship. The recent leak of the tape I never consented to being filmed on.
I was blackmailed by the person in the video and was threatened that if I didn’t give him the lump sum of money that they would leak it on the web. ”
She said she was contacted by a media outlet that had acquired the tape, and that the company backed off from broadcasting it once they understood it originated from an extortion scheme. Joy admitted she had crossed her own boundaries to keep Diddy happy, saying she wanted to fulfill all his desires even if it meant breaking her own limits. Months before the tape surfaced, Joy had been named in Lil’ Rod’s lawsuit, with a claim that Diddy paid her a monthly amount to be part of his network.
She denied the claim completely, calling it a total character assassination. Shortly after her denial, the tape dropped online. 50 Cent, who has been one of Diddy’s most vocal critics, reacted to the leak by mocking Diddy publicly. However, his tone shifted when discussing Joy.
He said she was not a victim, and asked people to imagine what it feels like for a child in eighth grade to find out his mother is the subject of a leaked internet tape. The pattern across these stories, according to Deal, is consistent. He has repeatedly said this was never random, describing it as a system built over years involving far more people than originally expected. As new names surface and new footage leaks, the full picture remains unfinished.
Diddy is currently in prison facing federal charges including sex trafficking and abuse, with a release date set for January 2028. Despite his incarceration, new lawsuits and allegations continue to emerge, and the story shows no signs of slowing down.
