General Hospital spoilers suggest one of the show’s newest mysteries may be building toward a major payoff as questions continue swirling around baby Phoebe’s biological father. Ethan Lovett has already admitted he is not the child’s father, revealing that he only allowed everyone to believe otherwise in order to protect both Delilah Wilson and her daughter. Now that the truth is out, attention has shifted to the identity of the man Ethan has repeatedly described as dangerous. While the show has offered only a handful of clues, several familiar faces could fit the profile—and the eventual reveal could have lasting consequences throughout Port Charles.
Ethan Admits the Truth While Warning Ava
Ethan finally came clean to Ava Jerome, confirming that he and Delilah were never romantically involved. According to Ethan, they were close friends, and after Delilah became involved with a dangerous man, he stepped in to help shield both mother and child from someone he believes poses a serious threat.
His actions now make far more sense. Ethan secretly infiltrated the PCPD evidence room, disguised himself as a police officer, and stole a DNA sample that belonged to Phoebe’s biological father. Rather than using his own DNA, he substituted the evidence to convince everyone he was the father.
That detail may be the biggest clue yet.
Since Ethan obtained the sample from a PCPD evidence file, Phoebe’s real father must be someone whose DNA is already on record through a previous arrest or criminal investigation in Port Charles.
Why the DNA Mystery Matters
Alexis Davis previously explained that a confirmed paternity test was required before Ethan could legally surrender parental rights, allowing Brook Lynn Quartermaine and Harrison Chase to proceed with Phoebe’s adoption.
Now that Ethan has admitted the deception, the identity of Phoebe’s biological father becomes unavoidable. Whoever this man is, Ethan clearly believes he is dangerous enough that Delilah wanted to keep him as far away from her daughter as possible.
That immediately narrows the field to several characters with troubled pasts and criminal histories.
Could Sonny or Jason Be Connected?
Naturally, Sonny Corinthos becomes one of the first names fans might consider. His long history with the PCPD means his DNA would certainly exist in police records, and Ethan originally took a job working around Sonny after arriving in Port Charles.
However, there are reasons to doubt that theory. If Ethan truly believed Sonny was Phoebe’s father, obtaining a DNA sample would have been far easier than breaking into the PCPD. Sonny’s personal belongings would have provided countless opportunities for testing without risking arrest.

Valentin Cassadine represents another intriguing possibility. Although Charlotte sees him as a devoted father, Valentin’s history is filled with espionage, violence, and enemies capable of threatening anyone close to him. If Delilah became involved with Valentin while he was living in hiding, Ethan could reasonably view him as someone capable of placing Phoebe in constant danger.
Jack Brennan also fits part of the profile. His connections to the WSB, Pikeman, and numerous covert operations make him one of Port Charles’ most complicated figures. His DNA would almost certainly exist in official records following his imprisonment. Even so, Brennan’s current storyline makes him feel like a less likely candidate unless the writers intend another major twist involving his past.
Then there is Drew Cain. Once viewed as one of Port Charles’ most dependable heroes, Drew has become increasingly controversial over the past year. His insider trading conviction would explain why his DNA could appear in police files, while his recent behavior has earned him more enemies than allies. If the writers wanted to push Drew even further into morally complicated territory, revealing him as Phoebe’s father would certainly accomplish that.
A New Villain May Hold the Answer
The newest possibility may also be the most intriguing.
Hudson, the mysterious newcomer arriving in Port Charles, has already been described as a dangerous figure with unclear motives. If Hudson has a criminal history tied to Port Charles or previous connections to Sidwell and Ross Cullum, his DNA could easily have found its way into the PCPD’s evidence system long before his official debut.
Such a reveal would neatly explain Ethan’s determination to protect Delilah while simultaneously connecting Hudson to several of the show’s biggest ongoing storylines. Rather than reopening old family dramas, making Hudson Phoebe’s biological father would immediately establish him as a significant long-term threat.

At this stage, General Hospital has deliberately left enough clues to fuel multiple theories without confirming any of them. What seems increasingly clear is that Ethan never lied to protect himself.
