3 DEADLY SECRETS EXPLODE THIS Monday, September 7, SHATTERING SALEM! - Days of Our Lives Spoilers:

Marlena Evans is forced to confront the darkest corners of her past in a disturbing flashback that suggests Stefano DiMera may still be controlling events from beyond the grave. During Monday’s episode, Marlena sits alone with her thoughts and relives a moment of profound trauma involving a needle prick, a memory she compares to the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. The flashback leaves her startled and raises serious questions about whether Stefano implanted something in her years ago that is only now being activated. Stefano has a long history of using mind control and brainwashing against Marlena and John Black.

John was originally introduced to Salem in 1986 as an amnesiac known only as “The Pawn,” and Stefano treated the couple as pieces on a twisted personal chessboard. With John’s death now marking its one-year anniversary, Stefano appears to be targeting Marlena from the grave through the mysterious chess set he left her in his will. Belle and Chad have been traveling through Italy and Ireland trying to decode the meaning of the set, but this new memory suggests the danger may be much closer to home. Fans have speculated that the missing pawn piece, a 10,000 lira note with a potentially significant serial number, and now this needle memory all point toward a new sleeper agent being activated in Salem.

The question remains whether Marlena holds the key to stopping whatever Stefano has set in motion. Meanwhile, the tension inside the Kiriakis mansion is escalating as Joy Wesley tightens her grip on Alex. Joy has made it clear she will not allow Stephanie anywhere near baby Kelsey and has also demanded that Philip keep her upcoming back surgery a secret from her sister Chloe and her parents Craig and Nancy. By isolating Alex from his support system, Joy appears to be executing a calculated plan.

Banning Stephanie removes her romantic rival, while hiding her surgery guarantees Alex will be the only person available to care for her during her recovery. Alex, who struggles with a savior complex rooted in being abandoned by his biological mother Angelica Deveraux, appears to be falling for the manipulation completely. Stephanie is already dealing with severe PTSD after being kidnapped by Owen Kent, and instead of receiving support, she is being pushed out of the picture. Philip, who knows manipulation when he sees it given his mother Kate Roberts, seems to see through Joy’s schemes.

The tension between Theo Carver and Johnny DiMera continues to boil as well. Theo remains convinced Johnny is hiding something, even after his mother Lexi confirmed that EJ and Johnny were telling the truth about her situation. Lexi, who is dying because EJ’s experimental drug failed, finally told her son that she was not being held against her will in the DiMera mansion. Theo refused to accept that answer and continues to glare at Johnny with suspicion.

His refusal to let go of the theory may stem from his inability to accept being wrong, and he is channeling his grief over losing his mother a second time directly at Johnny. Johnny is already overwhelmed, dealing with his father’s pharmaceutical cover-ups involving tainted drugs, his new baby, and his wife Chanel’s cancer diagnosis. The added pressure of Theo’s vendetta leaves Johnny fighting on multiple fronts while trying to separate himself from the toxic DiMera legacy. Chanel’s cancer battle remains the most heartbreaking storyline in Salem.

She is fighting malignant breast cancer while pregnant and fears chemotherapy or radiation will harm her unborn child. She has tried to delay treatment while demanding a better outcome from doctors Sarah Horton and George. Paulina remains by her daughter’s side through every hospital visit and difficult choice. After stepping aside so Abe could reunite with Lexi, Paulina has poured all her energy into supporting Chanel through her treatment.

The contrasting stories highlight the divide in Salem: the DiMera family tearing itself apart over power and money while the Price women fight together for survival. Monday’s episode sets up what promises to be a turbulent autumn in Salem, with Marlena’s psychological triggers, Joy’s manipulation of Alex, and Theo’s grief-fueled obsession all reaching critical points.
