Jaden Smith’s Situation Is Worse Now

Jayden Smith’s public life has taken a strange and deeply unsettling turn, and much of it traces back to moments his family played out in front of cameras. His father, Will Smith, kissed him on the mouth live on Thai television in 2013, while Jayden visibly recoiled and shouted for help. The clip went viral, but it was not an isolated incident. During a promotional tour for *After Earth*, Will grabbed Jayden’s face and kissed him on air.

Jayden jumped off the couch to escape the kiss, and even the show’s host commented on the awkwardness. Asked later whether this kind of affection happened at home, Jayden said they were affectionate, but no, he did not kiss his son on Thai television. Will responded that he could not kiss his son in that setting, calling the situation silly and trying to brush it off. The moment was not a one-off.

In a separate interview with Hip Hollywood, Jayden said Will tried to kiss him all the time, on set, after filming, and in other settings, describing it as embarrassing. Will repeatedly justified the behavior publicly as an expression of love. In May 2024, Jaguar Wright made explosive claims about the Smith family dynamic, referencing multiple videos of Will trying to forcefully kiss his son. She went further, alleging that Will had engaged in sexual acts with Jayden, and accused Jada of knowing about it and doing nothing.

She also accused Will of assaulting other men. These claims have not been verified, and they remain allegations rather than established facts, but they added to a growing and uncomfortable public conversation about the family. Before the internet began questioning Jayden’s sexuality, there was already significant public scrutiny. In November 2018, at the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, Jayden told the crowd that Tyler, the Creator was his boyfriend.

He repeated the claim on Twitter, writing that he had told everyone so they could not deny it. Tyler responded with a laugh. Jayden later deleted the tweet, which fueled even more curiosity. While promoting his album *Sunset Tapes*, Jayden confirmed it again, saying he had recently stated Tyler was his boyfriend and that it was true.

Around the same time, he was modeling for Louis Vuitton’s womenswear, deliberately blurring gender lines in his clothing and public persona. When he announced the relationship with Tyler, it generated widespread discussion. In April 2024, video from the Coachella festival showed Jayden and Justin Bieber together. Jayden hugged Bieber from behind while Bieber kissed him on the cheek.

Social media comment sections quickly filled with speculation about the nature of their relationship, building on the Tyler announcement, the Louis Vuitton campaign, and everything that had come before. As the conversation about Jayden’s sexuality grew, others began weighing in. Young Thug admitted in a lengthy interview that he would pull Jayden aside in his dressing room and tell him he was genuinely worried because he had never seen him with a girl. Jayden reportedly responded by going out and socializing more, simply to stop Young Thug from asking questions.

Orlando Brown, a former Disney actor known for controversial interviews, made direct statements about Jayden, publicly claiming Jayden Smith is gay and that Tyler, the Creator was his first boyfriend. Brown also claimed Will Smith knew, did not support it, and shut it down, allegedly telling Jayden he could feel however he wanted but could not be that way. These claims were widely rejected and remain unverified, but they spread anyway. In 2016, Jayden appeared in Baz Luhrmann’s Netflix series *The Get Down*, where his character shared a kiss with another man in a nightclub scene.

It was acting, but fans with existing questions used the scene to reinforce conclusions they had already drawn. That same year, Will and Jada quietly separated, not publicly, not officially. They simply stopped being husband and wife in private while maintaining the appearance of their relationship publicly. Jada discussed this in her memoir *Worthy* and in an interview with Hoda Kotb, saying that by 2016 they were both exhausted and stuck in a version of each other that no longer reflected who they truly were.

Jayden was 18 at the time. In March 2022, Will Smith walked on stage at the Oscars and slapped Chris Rock, referring to Jada as his wife in front of the world. Jada later wrote that she initially thought the slap was staged, and hearing Will call her his wife startled her because they had not lived that way for six years. Photos that night showed the whole family smiling together, presenting a united front over a marriage that had effectively ended years earlier.

During the separation, Jada had a relationship with August Alsina. She first described it on *Red Table Talk* as a casual fling before acknowledging it was a serious relationship. What many people overlooked is that Alsina did not enter Jada’s life randomly. He met the Smith family through Jayden around 2015, when Jayden’s brothers were hosting a show in London.

Jayden had personally brought Alsina into their circle. Years later, he learned about his mother’s relationship with him publicly on a talk show run by his own family. The word “entanglement” became a national joke overnight. People mocked it, made TikTok videos, and printed it on shirts.

For Jayden, it was not a punchline. Even years later, a widely spread tweet falsely claimed Jayden had criticized his mother about the entanglement on Mother’s Day. It turned out to be entirely fabricated, but the fact that so many believed it shows how deeply his name remains tied to the story. There were also concerns about Jayden’s physical health during this period.

His parents staged an intervention because Jayden, then fully vegan, was not getting enough protein. Will said his son had dark circles under his eyes and pale skin. Jayden admitted to eating only one meal a day. He later looked at photos of himself topless at Coachella 2019 and described himself as looking too thin, even though he believed he looked good at the time.

The family also turned to psychedelics. Jayden spoke at the Psychedelic Science conference in Denver, saying his mother was the first in the family to take that step and was alone in it for a long time. He described his first experience with mushrooms as the moment that really changed him, saying psychedelics tear down a wall built by trauma so you can see what is behind it. Jada also spoke separately about plant medicine, writing in *Worthy* that ayahuasca helped her through a period when she considered ending her life around her fortieth birthday.

The question remains whether Will and Jada’s parenting style is responsible for the situation Jayden finds himself in, or whether Jayden is doing better than people assume. What is clear is that his path has been shaped by public moments, family revelations, and allegations that continue to follow him, none of which have been fully resolved.
