James Gandolfini, best known for playing Tony Soprano, died suddenly on June 19, 2013, while on vacation in Rome, Italy. He was just 51 years old, and his death came as a shock to fans and colleagues who remembered him as both a gifted actor and a genuinely kind person. His 14-year-old son, Michael, found him unconscious on the bathroom floor of their hotel, the Boscolo Exedra, at around 10 p. m.

The show was both a critical and commercial success, running for six seasons from 1999 to 2007.
