Jaden Smith’s former personal groomer has filed a $3 million lawsuit against Jada Pinkett Smith, alleging emotional distress and claiming she threatened his life if he spoke about her personal affairs. The lawsuit, filed in December 2025, follows years of public speculation about the Smith family’s internal dynamics, with the case remaining active in California court despite recent setbacks. Jada has called the lawsuit false and uncorroborated, filing a motion to dismiss it. In April 2026, a California judge struck the emotional distress claim and ordered the plaintiff to pay nearly $50,000 in legal fees.
The broader case, however, continues. The central figure in this controversy has been Jada’s admitted relationship with August Alsina, which she famously called an “entanglement” during a 2020 episode of Red Table Talk. His point was direct: a 43-year-old woman pursued a 22-year-old physically sick and mentally vulnerable man she met through her own son. Hughley argued that if the genders were reversed, the conversation would not have centered on an “entanglement. ”
In 2022, a source close to Jaden told Us Weekly that Jaden knows his family is different and that his mother’s openness about their personal life has never been easy for him.
That anonymous quote remains the closest anyone in Jaden’s circle has come to acknowledging the situation affected him directly. Singer Jaguar Wright has made more explicit allegations. In 2023, she called out the Smith family dynamic in terms mainstream media had avoided, and in May 2024, she stated on camera that Will and Jada’s marriage is a sham, making specific allegations about things that happened to Jaden inside the household. According to the plaintiff, the situation escalated when Jada discovered he was writing a memoir about his decades inside the Smith household.
